What is the Difference Between Rough Cutting and Finishing Cutting in CNC Machining Parts?

In the manufacturing process of CNC machining parts, the most commonly used processing methods are milling and turning, which are collectively referred to as cutting.

There are two types of cutting processing in CNC lathe processing plants, which are called "rough cutting" and "finishing cutting". So, what is the specific difference between rough cutting and fine cutting of cnc parts for sale?

1. Rough cutting of CNC machining parts

After "rough cutting", the CNC machined workpiece is very close to the required shape and size, but there is still enough metal allowance on the machined surface for finishing, so that the surface of the workpiece is smooth and the size is accurate.

Generally speaking, in the process of CNC machining parts, steel bars, forgings, castings, etc. can achieve the required shape and size with only one rough cutting and one fine cutting. However, sometimes some parts of a machine part may require more than one rough cut. For some hardware parts processing, if the precision requirement is not high or the amount of metal to be removed is small, it may only need one fine cutting.

The rough cutting of cnc machine electrical parts must be quite large because most of the residual material is to be removed, which means that the entire machine, tool, workpiece or all three can withstand it. The purpose of rough cutting is to remove excess material as quickly as possible without leaving a machined surface that is too rough, slender workpieces that cannot resist bending or damage the tip.

2. Fine cutting of CNC machining parts

Fine cutting is to make the workpiece surface smooth and dimensionally accurate, so it is a finer cutting. Finishing emphasizes precision - using very sharp tools, less metal is removed, and higher precision is required when measuring.

Whether the CNC machining parts are rough cutting or finishing cutting, CNC machining workers must set the rough cutting and finishing cutting steps according to the pre-established process, and adjust the machine tool, must consider the size and shape of the workpiece, the type of material, the tool species, and the nature of the cutting to be cut. Then start to adjust the machine tool to the correct speed and feed, and adjust the tool to achieve the required depth of cut.
